Scriptures of Time
In science class I was taught time.
But it was just another one way line.
Another variable in an equation.
distance
speed
time
acceleration
All words that aren't supposed to be capitalized.
Just plugged in.
I found it deceptive.
To me,
Time
is so much more precious.
To me, Time is what I missed
The years with a father
The friends I didn't make
The lovers I got in my own way of
To me, Time is what I want to give.
Time.
Writing in front of the fire
While my wife chuckles at a line from the book she's reading
Time.
Throwing my daughter in the air
Her shrieks of joy
cause she knows I'll never let her fall
Time.
With my son
Whose hair I spend
ten youtube videos
thirty seven minutes
getting just right.
To me, Time is what I cherish.
Time
Is the thousand I Love You's.
From each and every Time I hang up the phone with my grandfather.
From each and every Time I leave my mom's house.
Time
I'll cherish,
Even when those thousand "I love you"s
End with one last one.
Time is the only thing we have.
The beautiful countdown we get to share when moments align.
Reminding us why we need to sip it slowly.
Slowly.
Like a favorite glass of Raspberry Lemon Iced Tea.
It's why I die a little.
When I see
Time.
wasted.
when I see the child at a restaurant.
behind a screen.
it's like throwing out a meal
in front of a starving child
it's an insult to us all.
to not know the precious thing
running out like sand through the cracks in clenched palms.
I prefer to cradle it in cupped hands.
I find it runs out slower that way.
So I don't pray to god.
I pray to Time.
I pray to the Truth
that Tomorrow may not always be better.
but he could be.
to that sacred
H

of what could be.
so when I close my eyes at night.
I bear a grin
because although Today is over.
Time will wake me up Tomorrow.
I love Tomorrow.
because Potential.
He lives there.
and I will die chasing him down,
running with a smile.
